Description
STL 3d models for a wearable Knight mask, based on the details seen in Hollow Knight.
Scaled for adults with a head opening of approx. 65cm circumference at 100% scale.
There’s a fast 3dprintable ring scale included with the download in which you can determine if the head opening is the right size for you. Scale and reprint the ring until you’re happy with the scale then print the mask parts using the same scale percentage. Full mask stl in one piece also included if you want to cut it up yourself.
Part STL files are already sized and orientated in the best print quality orientation.
Parts are scaled based on a 3dprinter with at least 250x250x250 mm build volume at 100% scale. There are 6 parts for this scale, conveniently cut at best print orientation and with included tabs to glue the parts together.
For bigger 3dprinters, there is also a 310x310x250mm build volume cut available. Suitable for Bambulab H2S, A2L, Qidi Max4, Creality K2 plus for example.
One piece print scale is 405x355x390mm at 100% scale.
Note that this mask is approx 10% smaller than the one piece printed mask you can get from my webshop, to accommodate common build volumes without ending up with too many individual pieces to print. The opening of the bottom of the mask is made bigger to compensate.
Recommended filament: LW-PLA (colorfabb). You’ll end up with about 500 to 800 grams of full print weight when using LW-PLA. Regular filament is approx 1000 to 1500 grams (1 and half spool) depending on print settings and size of the printer you have.
You can also get the mask printed in one piece for you in lightweight filament.
Recommended post-processing:
Print the tabs and glue them into the slots in the edges to give you an easy way of aligning and gluing the edges together.
You can use superglue (with accelerant), epoxy glue or any other strong glue you like to fasten parts together. I prefer superglue with accelerant spray such as mitrebond.
Sand your 3D prints using 100-150 grit sandpaper, with royal use of primer or filler spray in-between to get a smooth surface. When you’re satisfied with the results, your last layer should be a primer spray, before painting it with acrylics, spraypaints etc. Protect your paint with a varnish spray in satin or gloss.
Glue in a ring or pieces of upholstery foam or eva foam (the foam ring should fit you like a top hat) to position the mask on your head. Use some thin black opaque pantyhose fabric to hotglue in the eyes, or 3dprint a flat piece of black mesh using zero top/bottom layers and a high infill grid pattern and glue it into the eyes.
The 3d models are made by me. These files are packed in a ZIP folder, you need to extract the files correctly to be able to use them, if you have problems doing so, please contact me.
