Description
This listing contains STL files to 3D print your own round scoutfly lantern prop from Monster Hunter: World. Perfect to create that essential equipment prop for your Monster Hunter cosplay, as a gift to a friend, or just for a fun prop build of your favorite game.
The lantern is scaled for a total diameter of 10.5cm (4 inches).
I used a standard cabinet press light (battery powered, Home depot with 7cm (3 inches) diameter and 4cm diameter light) to light it up. When using these press lights, there’s no need to solder or adjust anything other than remove the upper cover. If no press light is used, there is plenty of room to stuff some green fairy lights in the back and then glue over some cardboard or foam over the back to close it up.
Paint the lantern parts individually and use superglue to glue the parts together for the nicest results.
Contains the following STL files packed in a ZIP folder:
Lantern case
Scoutfly center cage (fits 4cm diameter push light)
Green scoutfly center
6 bars to create the cage
A clip to hang the lantern to a belt
Each part is a maximum of 10.5cm wide and already orientated for best printing results.
Standard print settings:
Layer height: 0.2mm
Walls: 3
Top/bottom: 4
Infill: 10%/triangles
Support: 65 degrees/10%
I recommend printing the scoutfly center cage, clip and bars in 100% infill. Use support at 50% angle for the scoutfly center cage.
For the scoutfly center: Print at 107% flow, +5C temperature and 100% infill, print in clear or translucent filament (green). Put some green foil on the bottom (I used folder dividers foil) if no green transparent filament is available, or color it with alcohol markers or transparent airbrush paint. If using the green foil, you can only use the green foil instead, and not print the center piece at all. You can also cast the scoutfly center in green colored resin for extra effort.
The 3D models and photographed final prop are made by me.
